UITF, Stocks, Real Estate?
Question: What's the real score in investments? What investment is right for you?

 All of the
investment materials are good. From stocks, bonds, UITF but it all depends on the objective of the client even though most individuals prefer spending rather than saving.

One common mistake of individuals
is mostly in management and proper identification which are needed to be prioritized.

The majority
of Filipino's and people abroad still invests in conservative materials (SDA's , Time Deposit) and other materials which we all know for the past few years was low. What will be the alternative?

UITF: If we will put in context based on PNB's definition. A UITF
Fund or a Unit Investment Trust Fund is a kind of Trust fund which pools investors' funds and invest in various materials such as Government Securities, bonds, Etc.  What I like about UITF is that this is a type of diversification. Instead of raising high capital to diversify your portfolio  you can invest in one of this fund. This is also handled by banks which is a popular choice for many Pinoy's. Putting in a UITF can minimize your risk by diversification. The fund is invested in several instruments including stocks and bonds. With an average performance of 15%-20% per year.

Real Estate:
If you're thinking about investing in a rental property, experts say low home prices combined with low interest rates make this the best time in years to become a real-estate investor. Since not all investment properties are the same, it's important to determine what type of property fits your strategy, says Harrison Merrill, chief executive officer of Merrill Trust Group, a real-estate investment company based in Atlanta. Do you want to become a landlord, or would you rather restore and resell properties? Are you interested in apartment buildings and other commercial real estate, or in buying land that can be developed? First-time real-estate investors may want to start with residential housing, since it's  cheaper and easier to find a market."MSN Money"

Stock Investments: This is currently a hot cake  in the Philippine market. The capital stock (or stock) of an incorporated business constitutes the equity stake of its owners. It represents the residual assets of the company that would be due to stockholders after discharge of all senior claims such as secured and unsecured debt but what is good about stock is the liquidity. You can dispose this asset anytime you need to liquidate but the disadvantage of liquidity is volatility. Due to liquidity, people are key sensitive in fundamental issues regarding environmental or company performance.

MANILA, Philippines—Scoring a perfect 100 percent in “Cost of Living,” the Philippines makes it to the “World’s Top Retirement Havens in 2013,” an annual list prepared by International Living, a monthly publication about the best places to live in, retire, travel  and invest.
The Philippines ranked 15th in a list of 22, sharing the spot with France and Ireland, the magazine said in its website, www.internationalliving.com.
The ranking was based on a retirement index which the magazine’s editors, correspondents and in-country experts collected. The index cited eight categories, namely, real estate, special retirement benefits, cost of living, ease of integration, entertainment and amenities, healthcare, retirement infrastructure and climate.

Ecuador, which topped the list, scored a perfect 100 on climate. It scored a total 91.9 percent.
The Philippines, France and Ireland tied on the 15th place with an index score of 79.5 percent.
The Philippines scored high in ease of integration, healthcare facilities and retirement infrastructure. It scored the lowest 57 percent for real estate.
“Each destination is desirable in its own way, but they all offer something increasingly hard to come by at home: A good quality of life for a reasonable price,” the magazine said.
“Among these 22 destinations, you’ll discover places where you can save tens of thousands of dollars on world-class healthcare administered by English-speaking and US-trained doctors … find beachfront condos for less than $90,000 … and see that a couple can live well on just $900 a month excluding rent.
“Now, no ‘formula’ can spit out the name of the place that’s just right for you. After all, your priorities are uniquely yours,” it also said, addressing the retirees.
Data from the Philippine Retirement Authorities (PRA) show a high concentration of foreign retirees in Makati City, which boasts of modern hospitals, malls, hotels and entertainment amenities.
The PRA is the government agency mandated to attract foreign nationals and overseas Filipinos to invest, reside and retire in the Philippines.
Panama, Malaysia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Colombia, Spain, Thailand, Malta, Portugal, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Italy, Brazil, Chile, Honduras, Belize and Dominican Republic also made it to the www.internationalliving.com list of Retirement Havens.

Question for February 11-15

Question coming from Cherie Lambato(50,working in Manila,Philippines)

Question: What is the best technique to gain more assets?

Answer: There are lot of factors before considering turning your liquid assets to "solid hard rock" investments.
There are basic tips that you may consider.
   1. Balance your current cash flow: This is one mistake most people do. They mostly focus on gaining more assets not considering their current situation of liquidity.
  2. Buy on CASH: You maximize the value of your asset by acquiring thru cash basis. Minimize using credit when investing.
  3. Turn you current asset to a performing asset: Don't just put your asset in one location and wait for 100 years. When acquiring a specific asset, always think of a way how you can maximize its full potential and turn it to a cash machine.
 4. Use your Performing asset income for expansion: Yes! If your objective is growth, acquire more assets using the income from your previous asset. This will have a multiple domino affect which makes you grow your portfolio faster.

*note: there are lots of factors you have to consider before implementing the basic rules above,
