Most Filipino’s have a short term mindset instead of preparing for a relaxing future, they tend to enjoy life in the short term while suffering in the end. An investment mindset and a long term vision is what lacking in the Philippines.
We asked our clients in San Jose Financials website (www.sanjosefinancials.com) and asked them,  “ What is the best investment for you?”.  80% answered  they prefer to put it under time deposit.

Financial literacy is too low in the Philippines. The Majority of Filipino’s is intimidated when they talk about stocks, bonds or other investment materials that is available. So what are the factors for us to retire early?
If we talk about retiring, there are other factors you need to consider. Spiritually and mentally, a person should consider asking yourself if you are ready to have a life of no work.  You have to understand the when you decide to retire, every day is “ Sunday”.

Being ready financially is easy to compute. We always do that in here with SJF computing the readiness of our clients in retirement and preparation of funds. However,  we should know the right perspective. It is not with the age but with the financial readiness and proper mindset is a sign when you are ready to retire.
What are the signs that you are ready for retirement?
  1. Following a Plan
  • Being retired involves discipline.  If you have a plan when you are playing games or sports, isn’t that logical to have one for your wealth as wealth ?
( visit www.sanjosefinancials or call for a free consultation 798.8111)
  1. You are fully covered with your risk
  • From your life for your health,  Your risk for you and your family is fully covered
  1. Your children are financially independent
  • Seeing your children grow and worry free is every parents dream.  You are ready to retire if you see your kids fully independent and well covered.
  1. Almost no debt.
  • You are ready to retire if you see your house, car and other loans fully paid.
  1. Your investments can sustain your everyday
  • You are definitely ready when you see that you can survive by just your investments.
Everyone has a different standard. A retirement plan for Mr. Guitirez can’t be fit for Mrs. Salvon. There is no amount that can tell you that you are ready for retirement.  Filipino’s often tend to look for the value of income as the basis, however the secret formula there is not only income but several financial factors.

These days, it seems as though almost everyone has an idea of how you can get ahead as an investor. However, no matter how good the investment advice sounds, you need to do a gut-check. Can you trust this person? And why is he or she sharing such a great tip with you?

While you can listen to the investment ideas put forth by just about anyone, it’s another thing to whole-heartedly trust someone else with your money. Before you take the plunge, carefully examine the situation and the fundamentals, and then reconsider. Here are 5 people you should be wary of when they are giving you investment advice:
1. Family ( Related Topic: What is the best investment for you? )
It’s tempting to get in on that “hot” tip that your brother-in-law is offering, or get in on the bottom floor on that “investment opportunity” Your cousin is involved with. Unfortunately, too often, your family members don’t really understand investing. Like many others, they are following the herd, and that “hot” stock may be in bubble mode.
investmentEven worse is the possibility that your family member has been taken in by an investment scam. Going in can mean that you are caught in the trap, too. Before taking the advice of a family member, review his or her track record with finances, as well as remind yourself that your family member probably doesn’t have the know-how or credentials to be giving investing tips.
2. Strangers ( Related Topic: how to reduce debt? )
Why would a stranger go out of the way to give you great investment advice? In this category are those emails you receive about penny stocks and other “opportunities.” Also, be wary of taking advice from strangers you meet in social settings. He or she might be bragging about his or her investing prowess, but you don’t really have any proof that there is a real performance capability there.
3. Co-Workers ( Related Topic: Legal Forex Scams)
Unless you work in the investment industry, and your co-workers are all analyzing the merits of a particular investment, your co-workers probably aren’t the best people to turn to for financial advice. Instead, your co-workers are likely just behind the curve, buying when everyone else is, and selling in panic when things go south.
On top of that, co-workers are often sources of investment scams. They get taken in by scams, and then ask you to participate. They may be in earnest about the “opportunity”, but that doesn’t make you feel better after you’ve both been duped.
4. Media Talking Heads ( Related Topic: How to reduce your debt? )
It may be fun to watch Jim Cramer’s antics, but it’s important not to take your advice from media talking heads. Financial media don’t exist to inform investors. The primary goal of the financial media is to make money; any education or useful information provided to investors is merely a side product.
One of the best ways to make money is to sensationalize things. Media talking heads try to draw you in by convincing you that something is practically full-proof, or by whipping up fear about the imminent disaster. Making investment decisions based on these extremes presented by the media can lead to big losses to your portfolio.
Take the news with a grain of salt. Instead, you are better off following your own investing plan designed for the long haul, and ignoring the noise from the TV screen.
5. Brokers and Other Wall Street Types
( Related Topic: Risking your life with brokers and advocates)
Going to a stockbroker for advice seems like a slam dunk. After all, these folks know all about investing. Unfortunately, Wall Street types probably don’t have your best financial interests at heart. Brokers are, on a basic level, salespeople. This means that they are trying to get you to buy products that will earn them a better commission.
Whether it’s someone at your local bank, or a broker with an official firm, the reality is that these advice-givers only have to recommend something that is “suitable.” And suitably isn’t the same things as “best”.
If you want solid advice from a professional, consider using a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) or a fee-based financial planner. The RIA has a fiduciary responsibility under the law to look to your interests ahead of the commission, and a good financial planner that isn’t paid by commissions can offer mostly unbiased advice.

There are a number of reasons you’d want to reduce your personal debt. For example, you might just want to clear your debts more quickly – or you might actually be struggling to afford your payments each month.

Either way, you need to find a way to reduce your personal debt that suits your circumstances. Here are some tips to lower – or even clear – your personal debt.

You want to reduce your debts more quickly
Yes, you might be perfectly able to afford your monthly debt repayments along with all your essential expenses (like your mortgage, bills and food). You might, however, want to clear your debts more quickly – or simplify the repayment process.
Slogging away at your debts each month and seeing them only slightly decrease can be really demotivating. That’s why it will help to pay more than the minimum payment – if you can. It’s important to note that you shouldn’t compromise your essential expenses to pay your unsecured debts off more quickly.

Debt consolidation
You might also find it hard to reduce your personal debts more quickly if you have several different payments to make each month to different lenders.
You could make the repayment process simpler (but not necessarily more affordable) by combining all of your debts together into a single debt. You can do this by using a debt consolidation loan. When looking for a debt consolidation loan, it helps to find one with a lower interest rate than all of your other debts, as well as being large enough to cover all of the debts you want to consolidate.

Related Links: SJF Investment Management Services
Pay off all of your current debts with your consolidation loan and you’ll be left with just the consolidation loan to repay each month. So it’ll just be one payment to one lender, with one interest rate.

Related topic: Secret keys to your Financial Success
You may even have the choice to arrange to repay your consolidation loan slightly faster or slower than your original debts. This will mean that your monthly payments will be either larger or smaller respectively. Remember that repaying a consolidation loan over a longer amount of time will give interest more time to grow – and that you could be putting your property at risk if you secure a debt against your house and don’t keep up with repayments.
You can’t afford your monthly repayments
If – no matter how much you budget, scrimp and scrape – you can no longer meet your monthly debt repayments, ..

... You’ll probably need expert debt help.

Related Topics

There are a number of different debt solutions available – some of which can actually write off a portion of your debts. You have to find the one that’s right for you, though. Contacting a qualified debt adviser should help you to get on the right track towards clearing your problem debts.

Dont just ignore your debt problems - with a plan and someone to help and assist, you can get on top of this. There are advisors nationally who will guide and assist you, your family and or your business.  Just ask.

Keys to Financial Success

Although making resolutions to improve your financial situation is a good thing to do at any time of year, many people find it easier at the beginning of a new year. Regardless of when you begin, the basics remain the same. Here are my top ten keys to getting ahead financially.
Related Topics:
* Knowing your goals in Life
* Attending Free Wealth Seminars
1. Get Paid What You're Worth and Spend Less Than You Earn
It sounds simplistic, but many people struggle with this first basic rule.
Make sure you know what your job is worth in the marketplace, by conducting an evaluation of your skills, productivity, job tasks, contribution to the company, and the going rate, both inside and outside the company, for what you do. Being underpaid even a thousand dollars a year can have a significant cumulative effect over the course of your working life.
No matter how much or how little you're paid, you'll never get ahead if you spend more than you earn. Often it's easier to spend less than it is to earn more, and a little cost-cutting effort in a number of areas can result in big savings. It doesn't always have to involve making big sacrifices.

2. Stick to a Budget
One of my favorite subjects: budgeting. It's not a four-letter word. How can you know where your money is going if you don't budget? How can you set spending and saving goals if you don't know where your money is going? You need a budget whether you make thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.
Related Resources:
3. Pay Off Credit Card Debt
Credit card debt is the number one obstacle to getting ahead financially. Those little pieces of plastic are so easy to use, and it's so easy to forget that it's real money we're dealing with when we whip them out to pay for a purchase, large or small. Despite our good resolves to pay the balance off quickly, the reality is that we often don't, and end up paying far more for things than we would have paid if we had used cash.
Related Topics:
4. Contribute to a Retirement Plan
If your employer has a 401(k) plan and you don't contribute to it, you're walking away from one of the best deals out there. Ask your employer if they have a 401(k) plan (or similar plan), and sign up today. If you're already contributing, try to increase your contribution. If your employer doesn't offer a retirement plan, consider an IRA.

5. Have a Savings Plan
You've heard it before: Pay yourself first! If you wait until you've met all your other financial obligations before seeing what's left over for saving, chances are you'll never have a healthy savings account or investments. Resolve to set aside a minimum of 5% to 10% of your salary for savings BEFORE you start paying your bills. Better yet, have money automatically deducted from your paycheck and deposited into a separate account.

6. Invest!
If you're contributing to a retirement plan and a savings account and you can still manage to put some money into other investments, all the better.

7. Maximize Your Employment Benefits
Employment benefits like a 401(k) plan, flexible spending accounts, medical and dental insurance, etc., are worth big bucks. Make sure you're maximizing yours and taking advantage of the ones that can save you money by reducing taxes or out-of-pocket expenses.
Related Topic
8. Review Your Insurance Coverages
Too many people are talked into paying too much for life and disability insurance, whether it's by adding these coverages to car loans, buying whole-life insurance policies when term-life makes more sense, or buying life insurance when you have no dependents. On the other hand, it's important that you have enough insurance to protect your dependents and your income in the case of death or disability.
Related topic:
9. Update Your Will
70% of Americans don't have a will. If you have dependents, no matter how little or how much you own, you need a will. If your situation isn't too complicated you can even do your own with software like WillMaker from Nolo Press. Protect your loved ones. Write a will.

10. Keep Good Records
If you don't keep good records, you're probably not claiming all your allowable income tax deductions and credits. Set up a system now and use it all year. It's much easier than scrambling to find everything at tax time, only to miss items that might have saved you money.

Reality Check
How are you doing on the top ten list? If you're not doing at least six of the ten, resolve to make improvements. Choose one area at a time and set a goal for incorporating all ten into your lifestyle.

As a child my family went on a number of driving vacations. Before leaving, my parents generally contacted AAA and obtained a step-by-step series of maps of our planned route. Typically, each page depicted the route between two major cities: the route from Indianapolis to Louisville, followed by Louisville to Nashville, and so on.
Reaching your financial goals is like a trip. While there are many reasons you need a financial plan, here are six to get you started:

Related Blog: Attending Free Wealth Seminar
If you don't know the destination, how will you know when you've arrived? A financial goal is something that has a time frame and that can be quantified. An aspiration such as a "comfortable retirement" is hard to plan for. The financial planning process will help you define and quantify your goals.
[Related Topic: Keys to financial success.]

Determining a proper investment allocation is critical. An outgrowth of your financial plan should be a plan for the allocation of your investment assets across all of your accounts. The allocation should reflect the goals you are trying to attain as well as your tolerance for investment risk.
Are you saving enough? Whether you want to fund your children's college education, save for retirement, or buy a new house, most financial goals mean periodic savings. The financial planning process will help you identify how much you will need to save periodically—and in total—for each of your goals.
What will happen to your assets upon your death? Most of us have someone to whom we would like to pass on whatever wealth we have accumulated during our lifetime. Estate planning is a central part of
the financial planning process. Do you need a will or a trust? Are your beneficiary designations on retirement accounts and insurance policies up-to-date? What would happen to your assets if you died today? Is this what you intended?
Are you properly insured? Do you have enough life insurance, and do you have the right kind of policy for your situation? Do you have disability and long-term care insurance? Do you need this coverage? A financial plan addresses all of these issues.

Are you fully using all of the benefits available to you through your employer? This question addresses issues from health insurance all the way to your retirement plan to any types of stock options or company stock benefit you may have access to. Benefits generally range from 30 percent to 40 percent or more of your cash compensation, so understanding what is available to you and how to best use these benefits is crucial.
These six reasons barely scratch the surface of why you need Wealth Management. In general, the financial planning process can help you take a thorough look at all aspects of your financial life and organize them in the most efficient fashion for your situation.

Related topics: What is Wealth Management?

Finally, do you need to hire a Licensed Wealth Manager to do all this? My answer is yes, but I am severely biased. What a good financial planner will do for you that you cannot do yourself is to take an objective, unemotional look at your situation. He will then apply his expertise, training, and experience to your unique financial needs. One last (biased) suggestion: Always hire a fee-only financial advisor, someone who does not earn a commission based on selling you a financial product. This eliminates a huge potential conflict of interest.
Remember: Planning your Wealth and your future is not a one-time event, but rather an ongoing process. The plan is a base from which to make financial decisions, but the plan can and should change over time based upon changes in your personal circumstances.
What are some other benefits of Wealth Management Financial Plan? We'd love to get your thoughts—feel free to leave a comment below.

I believe the most sensitive in all topics is about wealth management. This concept is new to filipino's even though it already existed in the US since 1990's. Currently,we see free seminars  but what is the real score behind this promo's?
Most Filipino's compare prices rather than checking the quality. This kind of concept does not apply and can be damaging when it comes to investments and topics about your wealth. Instead of helping you, it may limit your growth or even be a main reason for destruction in your finances instead of maximizing your full potential with the right products and strategies.

TOP 10 TRUTH'S AND FACT'S why it is  better to acquire information and seminars from INDEPENDENT Wealth Managers rather than Financial institution with Financial Products.

1. It's a marketing strategy. It helps them rather than it helps you.
-It is a fact that these "free" seminars are backed with financial products that they always sell to the public. People may realize in the long run  they lose more rather than they gain. We often call as a mask hiding the real face.

 Related blog:

2. Independent Wealth managers and registered Financial planners are advocates of Truth.
       - The main objective is to help people regarding how they can maximize their full potential and how to  organize their wealth efficiently with the right products and right strategies. This will maximize their growth more than boxing yourself in one institution with 1 product in mind. Do you think they can advise you to buy their competitor even though it is best for you? The answer is definitely obvious.

 3. Wealth Managers tells 100% truth while they barely tell you the truth to protect their product.
     - It's another fact most financial institution tell people how great their product but barely show the truth about the performance. Their objective is to tell you about their services and how it can help you rather than focus on your financial health. Wealth managers objective is to help you. No added information or products.
